Istanbul
From Metro İstanbul's MetroMobile service (via the İBB Open Data Portal) we take station order, coordinates, the number of lifts and escalators, line colours, first and last services and journey times for the M1A, M1B, M2-M9, T1, T3, T4, T5, F1, F4, TF1 and TF2. The same service provides the breakdown and closure notices shown at the top of pages.
Station locations for Marmaray, the M11 and the F2 come from İBB's Rail System Station Points dataset. That dataset has no station order, so stops were ordered by their position along the line.
Stop order and locations for the Metrobus and bus lines come from İETT's web services. We also use İETT's stop list to find which district each station is in.
This data is published under the İBB Open Data Licence. The attribution it asks for: contains public sector information licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) licence.
Ferry lines, sailing times between piers and departure times come from the winter timetable (7 September 2026 to 27 June 2027) published on Şehir Hatları's own website; pier locations come from İBB's Şehir Hatları Piers dataset. Each ferry line page links to the timetable page it was checked against.
Other cities
In Izmir, the metro, tram and İZBAN lines come from the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality's public transport GTFS data (Izmir Open Data Licence). The İZBAN timetable in that dataset dates from 2022; we use it for station order and the time between stations, and don't show first and last trains.
Kocaeli's Akçaray tram lines and the Kartepe cable car come from the GTFS data on the Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality Open Data Portal (CC BY). Konya's tram lines come from the Konya Metropolitan Municipality Open Data Portal (CC BY 3.0), and Gaziantep's trams and Gaziray from the Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality Open Data Portal (Gaziantep Open Data Licence).
Maps
Maps are drawn with OpenFreeMap tiles and the MapLibre library. Map data © OpenStreetMap contributors, © OpenMapTiles. Lines are drawn as straight segments between stops, not along the actual track.
How the numbers are worked out
The stop you board at isn't counted; the one you get off at is. The time between two stops comes from splitting the operator's published end-to-end journey time by the distance between stops, or from timetable times in cities with GTFS data. Where no journey time is published (Marmaray, the M11, the Metrobus) we estimate it from distance and the line's average speed, and the page says it's an estimate.
Stations with the same name less than 600 metres apart are treated as one station (for example Yenikapı, where the M1A, M1B, M2 and Marmaray meet). Separate stations and piers less than 450 metres apart get a walking transfer, except pairs on opposite banks of the Golden Horn with no bridge in between. Walking time assumes 75 metres a minute plus two minutes to reach the platform.
Nearby places
Shopping centres, hospitals, universities, museums, mosques and other places on station pages come from OpenStreetMap (© OpenStreetMap contributors, ODbL). We drop entries that tag a single shop as a shopping centre or a family health centre as a hospital, and merge places that were entered twice. Distances are measured in a straight line, and walking times are worked out a little above that.
Fares and public holidays
Fares come from the tariffs published by municipalities and operators: in Istanbul the electronic ticket tariff adopted by the İBB council on 17 July 2026, in Izmir the İzmirim Kart tariff page, in Kocaeli metropolitan council decision 248 of 14 May 2026, in Konya the ATUS fares page and in Gaziantep the Gaziulaş tariff. Public holiday dates come from the Presidency of Religious Affairs and Law 2429. We follow free-travel decisions for holidays in the Official Gazette and in municipal announcements.
The trip fare on route pages is worked out for a full-fare card. It includes transfer fares and the Marmaray and Metrobus fares that depend on the number of stations. We don't give a total for trips with a ferry or the M11, because those fares depend on the pier and on the direction of the transfer.
Updates
The data is pulled again from the sources by scripts we run by hand. Every page shows the date it was last checked. When a new station appears in the official data, it's added to the site.
